What is eve more alarming is that the Indian government is not doing much to combat child hunger, despite the fact the GDP has doubled since 1991 and the economy has experienced rapid growth. Malnutrition places a heavy toll on India as many child deaths and diseases are as a result of it. One of the main causes of child hunger is that many families cannot afford to feed their children and they are less likely to take their children to the hospital when they become ill. Even children from wealthier families are malnourished due to poor feeding habits that robs them of essential nutrients which include not feeding new-born breast milk in the first six months. The India government has failed in its efforts to help these malnourished children and the figures are rising. They have implemented two programs to help the situation, one is the PDS (public distribution system). This program is designed to provide subsidise food but its riddled with corruption and mismanagement. These children need to be fed, to be nourished and nurtured. I started early. Another aimless wandering of a clueless soul. There was the sandwich bar that had the day's special. Back at the crowd, I read over a cup of green tea with a twist of lemon - "'I love walking in London,' said Mrs. Dalloway. 'Really it's better than walking in the country.'" The store next door had a sale. The street was up on sale and I was rich today. Today, I could indulge. The Chrysanthemums at the florist enthralled me like Vincent was by Sun flowers. Bought a bunch - green and white. Bought a green sweatshirt for the winter that passed by and a bunch of glitzy Tees for the years when I couldn't afford them. Bought a pair of beach sandals and a sipper. I could smell the aroma of saffron in the air. It was time to indulge - again. Stopped at the bus stop and watched the traffic go by. Flagged a cab and headed home. I unlocked the door and nudged it wide open. There was something still missing.

Apple iPad Review
Launched at competitive prices, Apple’s iPad is simply the best tablet available today.
The Magical device that the world has been enjoying from the past year has at last reached Indian shores. Among all the hoopla and criticism of Apple using India as a dumping ground and iPad 2 launching soon, the iPad
launch still managed to shake its main competitor in India. For the uninformed, Samsung crashed the prices of their tablet the Samsung Galaxy Tab just days before the iPad launch clearly indicating that even they are afraid of the iPad and the impact it might have in India. Apple was kind enough to provide us with a 64GB WiFi + 3G variant for testing and the device has simply blown us away with its looks and performance.

Looks & Ergonomics
Apple has always been able to make their products stand out on account of design and the iPad is no exception. The front has a vibrant 9.7-inch display with the home button under it on the bezel. The back is made of aluminium and has a slight curve that makes it comfortable to hold. The right side has a slider button for silent mode and the volume keys whereas the left has the tray for 3G microSIM (only in 3G models). The bottom houses the 30-pin charging/data connectivity port and speaker grill and the top has the power/hold switch.
In terms of usage, the iPad is easy to carry around due to its sleek curvature design and metal body. However, the weight makes it an issue to use the device for long time duration if held in one hand. Hold it with both hands in vertical or horizontal orientation and its much more comfortable and easy to use.

Most of the common software’s such as Facebook, Opera browser, Nimbuzz etc are still not available for the iPad. The app store for iPhone/iPod touch has way larger variety and availability across categories which feels missing here. A user can install the apps meant for the iPhone and iPod on the iPad, but they run best in a 3.5” display size best which feels too small on the iPad’s large display. There is an option to zoom the apps by 2X, but that leads to the interface becoming pixelated.

On an average mix use of browsing, watching videos, listening to music, social networking and installing/removing apps, the iPad worked for 9 hours a day. When put on hold and left overnight, the battery dropped by just 1%! The issue here was that once the battery got low, the device took its own sweet 2-3 hours to get charged back up to full 100%

With over 15 million units sold worldwide, the Apple iPad can easily be crowned the undisputed king of tablets. Tablet with android Honeycomb are still a couple of months away and so is the availability of iPad 2, so if you are looking for a tablet to purchase right now for multimedia, social networking or games, go for the Apple iPad eyes closed.
The iPad is priced Rs 27,900 onwards for WiFi and Rs 34,900 onwards for WiFi + 3G version. The only competition that the iPad has is the Samsung Galaxy Tab as it offers more features at same price and Android operating system, but a smaller display.
